Jasper is located in western Alberta, Canada, in the Athabasca River valley. It is the commercial center of Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rockies.
Jasper is 362 kilometres (225 mi) west of Edmonton and 290 kilometres (180 mi) north of Banff, Alberta. Jasper is connected to the west via the Yellowhead Highway and the Yellowhead Pass to Prince George, British Columbia, and to the east to Edmonton. Toward the south, the Icefield Parkway leads to Lake Louise, Banff townsite and Banff National Park.
Jasper National Park is the largest park in the Rocky Mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, encompassing some of the most majestic, pristine and accessible wilderness in Canada.
